Cimarron Firearms 1873 Sporting Features The Cimarron 1873 Sporting is built around a 24 inch octagon barrel a traditional profile that recalls the original rifles of the era while providing a long sight radius for improved aiming precision. Its 1 in 18.5 inch twist rate is matched to the .44 S&W Special cartridge stabilizing the bullet properly for consistent accuracy at typical lever action shooting distances. A semi buckhorn rear sight paired with a blade front sight offers a traditional sighting system well suited to both target work and hunting applications. The 13 round magazine capacity gives the shooter plenty of rounds on tap before needing to reload valuable in both cowboy action stages and practical field use. The frame is finished with a case hardened treatment a process that produces a distinctive mottled color pattern unique to each receiver while also adding surface hardness. Walnut wood furniture in a straight grip stock pattern completes the traditional look offering a comfortable period-correct shouldering experience. A standard blued finish on the barrel and remaining metal components rounds out the rifle s classic appearance.
