Accessibility

Last Updated: November 11, 2025

Gearchase.com is committed to digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continuously improve the user experience and apply relevant standards.

Standards and Scope

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines improve accessibility for users with diverse abilities. We also design with ADA Title III obligations in mind.

Scope includes our public website and web emails we send. Native mobile apps and third-party properties may have separate statements.

Measures We Take

  • Governance: An accessibility lead coordinates standards, reviews, and remediation.
  • Design & code: Semantic HTML, ARIA where needed, color-contrast checks, focus order, visible focus, captioning/transcripts for new media, form labels and errors, and keyboard operability.
  • Testing: Automated checks in CI, manual keyboard testing, and assistive technology spot-checks.
  • Content: Alt text guidelines, heading structure, link purpose, and plain-language style for new content.
  • Training: Periodic training for designers, engineers, and editors.

Conformance Status

We strive for full WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance. Accessibility is an ongoing effort; some areas may not yet fully meet the standard. Identified issues are prioritized by user impact and fixed during regular releases.

Compatibility and Technical Specs

This site is designed to work with:

  • Current and previous major versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge.
  • Screen readers such as NVDA and JAWS on Windows, and VoiceOver on macOS/iOS.

Technical requirements: HTML5, WAI-ARIA 1.2, CSS, and JavaScript.

Known Limitations and Alternatives

  • Legacy content: Some historical posts and PDFs may lack full headings or tags. Workaround: request an accessible version using the contact options below.
  • Third-party embeds: Some retailer widgets, maps, or ad units are outside our control and may not fully meet WCAG. We report issues to vendors and seek accessible alternatives.
  • User-generated images: Older images may lack descriptive alt text. We add or correct alt text when flagged.

If you need content in an alternative format, we provide it upon request.

Third-Party Content

Our site links to and embeds services operated by others. While we encourage accessibility, we do not control their code. Contact us if an external element blocks access; we will assist or provide an alternative path.

Response time: within 2 business days. Escalation: unresolved issues are reviewed by the accessibility lead.
