Product names, descriptions, specifications, images, prices and stock status come from each store's product feed, as the store wrote them. We don't rewrite a store's product description, and we don't publish reviews or star ratings of our own for products. How the prices are collected and checked is on How we compare prices.

What comes from the stores
Where we use AI
GearChase lists millions of products, so some sorting and writing is done with an AI language model. We mostly use a model that runs on our own computer; a commercial service (Anthropic's Claude) is a backup. AI is used for:
- Deal descriptions. The short text on each deal is written by the model from the product's data and the store's page. The price, discount and store shown with a deal come from the store's page check, not from the model.
- Categories. Many feeds don't say what a product is. The model picks the closest category from our own category list, and we keep the store's original category alongside it.
- Store offers from newsletters. The model reads the newsletters stores send to affiliate partners and drafts the sales and codes it finds. A person checks and approves each one before it appears.
- Gift guide reasons. The "why it's a good gift" line on each gift guide pick is drafted by the model from the store's product information. A person reads and edits each one before it appears.
- Some brand-page introductions were drafted with AI.
AI is not used to invent prices, discounts, stock status, ratings, reviews or test results. Wherever a number appears, it comes from a store's feed or the store's own page.
What a person reviews
- Reviewed before publishing: store offers and codes, hand-picked deals, gift guide picks and their reason lines, and any written guide or article.
- Checked by software, spot-checked by a person: the daily deals. Each one is opened on the store's own page before posting; we review samples and remove any that turn out wrong.
- Not reviewed one by one: the product listings themselves. There are millions, and they come straight from stores' feeds, which is why we show when each price was last checked.
Independence
- GearChase earns commissions from stores through affiliate links (see the affiliate disclosure). Commission rates aren't used to pick deals or rank products.
- Product listings come from stores' feeds; a store doesn't pay a listing fee to appear.
- Anything a store or brand pays for (a placement, a feature or an article) is labelled "Sponsored" where it appears, and its links are marked as sponsored.
- If a product we write about was sent to us free, the article says so.
Corrections
If something on GearChase is wrong (a price, a deal, an offer, a category or anything we wrote), tell us. We correct it or take it down, and fix the cause where we can.
