Cimarron Firearms 1860 Richards-Mason Type 2 Features The Cimarron 1860 Richards-Mason Type 2 is a cartridge conversion style revolver chambered in .38 Special recreating the historic engineering solution that allowed cap and ball revolvers to be converted to fire self-contained metallic cartridges. This conversion style was a pivotal development in firearms history bridging the gap between percussion revolvers and the fully cartridge-based revolvers that followed. An 8 inch barrel gives this revolver an elongated elegant profile that was common on original Richards-Mason conversions offering an extended sight radius well suited to precise aiming. The 6-round cylinder follows traditional single action operation requiring the hammer to be manually cocked before each shot. A case colored and hardened frame gives the revolver a distinctive mottled finish a traditional hallmark of quality firearm metalwork from the 19th century that remains highly sought after by collectors. The barrel carries a standard blued finish creating a classic contrast against the case hardened frame. Fixed sights keep the shooting experience authentic to the historical design being reproduced. A one piece walnut grip completes the revolver s traditional appearance offering a comfortable and period-correct feel in the hand for collectors and cowboy action shooters drawn to this unique chapter of revolver history.
