Faxon Firearms Barrels Match Series Gunner Barrel Features The Faxon Firearms Barrels Match Series Gunner Barrel starts with gun-barrel-quality 416R stainless steel bar stock then is cut with 5R button rifling in 6.5 Grendel Type II chambering. The 5R geometry places lands opposite grooves and softens sharp rifling angles which reduces jacket deformation on the bullet improves velocity consistency and makes the bore easier to clean after a long range day. A 1:8 twist rate stabilizes the heavier bullet weights common to 6.5 Grendel loads giving hunters and precision shooters dependable downrange performance. Every barrel is stress relieved air-gauge tested magnetic particle inspected and headspace verified before it leaves the factory so reliability is confirmed rather than assumed. The Gunner profile keeps the barrel lightweight and maneuverable while retaining enough rigidity near the chamber for durability shifting the rifle s balance back toward the shooter to limit fatigue during extended training or hunting outings. A mid-length gas system meters pressure for smoother recoil impulse and more reliable cycling than a carbine-length setup. Inside and out the salt bath Nitride finish locks in the bore surface extends barrel life and resists the elements while the Nickel Teflon coated M4 extension adds dry lubricity and corrosion resistance and tightens the fit against the receiver. At 16 long with a 5/8x24 threaded muzzle and a .750 gas block journal this barrel is a drop-in upgrade for AR-15 builders chasing match-level accuracy.
