Faxon Firearms AR-10 Barrel Features The Faxon Firearms 6.5 Creedmoor barrel uses 5R button rifling with a 1 in 8 inch twist specifically chosen to stabilize the heavier higher ballistic coefficient bullets common to the cartridge. Unlike traditional rifling the 5R pattern offsets lands over grooves so the bullet is not distorted as it travels down the bore improving both accuracy and ease of cleaning. The heavy fluted profile reduces overall weight compared to a straight heavy contour while actually adding stiffness and improving heat dissipation during sustained strings of fire. An 11 degree target crown protects the rifling at the muzzle and helps ensure consistent bullet release for tighter groups downrange. Faxon subjects every barrel to Magnetic Particle Inspection a quality control step that detects hidden flaws invisible to the eye before the barrel ever reaches a rifle build. The rifle length gas system and .750 inch gas block diameter are configured for the 24 inch barrel length giving reliable cycling in a precision oriented AR-10 platform. A 5/8-24 threaded muzzle accepts a brake compensator or suppressor and the DPMS LR-308 compatible barrel extension is nickel Teflon coated for smooth low friction bolt cycling. Finished entirely in black QPQ nitride inside and out this Faxon barrel gives precision rifle builders a corrosion resistant accuracy focused upgrade.
