EGW Guns Hunter Scope Base Features The EGW Hunter Scope Base was developed to answer a specific demand from Savage owners for a shorter lighter still heavy duty Picatinny mount. Built from 7075 T6 aluminum the base trims about 15 percent of the weight of EGW s standard Heavy Duty mounts through a more compact overall length which matters to a hunter carrying a rifle over long distances in the field. The full length Picatinny cross slots still give the flexibility to position scope rings for correct eye relief and the base is compatible with quick disconnect rings as well as standard Picatinny or Weaver rings. Chamfered edges along the mount eliminate the sharp corners that can snag on a sling pack strap or brush during a hunt. EGW machines the Hunter base in house and finishes it in a Type III hardcoat anodizing for long term durability against field conditions. The base fits Savage Model 10 11 12 14 and 16 rifles along with the Model 110 and Stevens Model 200 when built with the Accu-Trigger short action round back receiver and bases made after December 2020 include both #6-48 and #8-40 screws to match factory hole sizing across that lineup. EGW recommends 20 inch pounds of torque with a drop of blue threadlocker during installation and notes this base does not fit the Savage Edge Axis Axis II or Model 25. Every part of the mount including the mounting hardware is made in the USA giving Savage short action owners a lightweight precision built option for mounting a hunting or long range optic.
