EGW Guns Scope Base Features The EGW Guns Scope Base is precision machined from extruded 6061-T6 aluminum built to stand up to repeated recoil while adding minimal weight to the rifle. Full width cross slots are gauged to MIL-STD 1913 specifications within plus or minus .002 inches which keeps Picatinny or Weaver rings seated solidly and lets the shooter slide the scope for proper eye relief. A 4.321 inch center spread and 7.458 inch overall length are sized specifically to the Savage Axis and Axis II receiver so the base lines up with the factory scope mount holes with no drilling required. The matte black finish blends with factory finishes and cuts down on glare in the field. EGW includes hex head screws both number 6 and number 8 sizes along with a wrench and recommends torquing to 20 inch pounds with a drip of blue Loctite to keep everything secure under recoil. Because the base accepts both Picatinny and Weaver style rings the shooter is not locked into one ring manufacturer or style. This flexibility combined with the direct bolt-on fit makes the base a simple path to a stronger more adjustable optic mount on a budget-friendly hunting rifle. For a Savage Axis or Edge owner upgrading from factory iron sights or an older base the EGW Guns Scope Base delivers a durable American made solution.
