EGW Guns Scope Base Features The EGW Guns Scope Base is machined from ultra-rigid extruded 6061-T6 aluminum giving it the strength to handle the recoil of a .444 or .45-70 lever gun without flexing or loosening. Its cross slots are gauged to MIL-STD 1913 specs within plus or minus .002 inches so Picatinny or Weaver rings seat securely and can be repositioned for the right eye relief. Because the base is drilled to match the factory scope mount holes on the Marlin receiver installation requires no drilling or tapping of the gun itself. The matte black finish matches factory Marlin finishes and keeps glare down in the field. Mounting hardware is included with the base and EGW recommends 20 inch pounds of torque along with a drip of blue Loctite to keep the screws locked in place under recoil.
