Apex Ammunition Dove Stratified Features The Apex Ammunition Dove Stratified load brings the company s layered Stratified shot technology to the 20 gauge combining No. 6 and No. 7 premium zinc-plated steel pellets in a single 3/4-ounce payload. Layering the two shot sizes increases the effective pellet count a bird sees at any given range which keeps patterns dense whether the shot is close over a decoy spread or further out as doves flare. Zinc plating on the steel shot resists corrosion and keeps pellets from fusing in storage preserving pattern consistency shot after shot. A 1300 feet per second muzzle velocity keeps the load fast and flat shooting giving hunters the lead tolerance they need on quick-crossing birds. Built on a 2.75 hull this non-toxic steel load is packaged 25 rounds to the box giving dove hunters a full day in the field without constantly reloading pockets. Choosing steel shot keeps the load compliant anywhere non-toxic shot is required while still delivering the downrange performance hunters expect from a premium dove load. The reduced payload and gauge make this 20 gauge option noticeably lighter in the field and softer shooting than a comparable 12 gauge load without giving up pattern density on fast-moving targets. For wingshooters who want Apex s Stratified performance in a trimmer easier-carrying package this load is built for long days chasing doves.
