"Men's Altra® Escalante 5: The Men's Altra Escalante 5 is a neutral daily trainer that gives road runners a lightweight, cushioned ride with a fit that actually feels like it was made for your foot. If you log consistent miles and want a shoe that keeps up without weighing you down, this is the kind of shoe you reach for day after day. The zero drop platform puts your heel and forefoot at the same height, encouraging a natural foot strike, and the FootShape™ toe box gives your toes room to splay at push-off rather than being squeezed together - two things that add up to a noticeably more comfortable feel on longer runs. The Altra EGO™ midsole foam sits at the core of the ride - soft enough for easy miles, responsive enough that the shoe still moves with you rather than under you. The engineered knit upper wraps the foot in a snug, sock-like fit while letting air circulate on warmer runs. At 9.7 ounces, the Escalante 5 stays light on the foot without sacrificing the cushioning you need for daily training. The updated rubber outsole improves grip and durability on pavement, and the redesigned tongue and collar clean up the fit around the ankle and instep in a way you'll notice once the miles start adding up.Why Our Fit Experts Love This Shoe""I took the Escalante 5 out for a longer easy run and was surprised by how natural everything felt from the start. The wide toe box made a real difference - my foot had room to move the way it's supposed to, and the EGO™ foam kept things comfortable without feeling like I was running on a mattress."" - Michael, Road Runner Sports Fit Expert, Seattle WAWho It's Best ForIf you're a neutral runner looking for a lightweight road running shoe that handles daily training miles without beating up your feet, the Escalante 5 is worth a serious look.
