"Women's Altra® FWD Via 2: The Women's Altra FWD Via 2 is a max-cushion neutral running shoe built for daily training and mid- to long-distance road running. If you want a ride that feels soft underfoot without slowing you down, this is worth a serious look. Rocker shape geometry guides your foot through each stride smoothly, so the transition from heel to toe feels natural and efficient rather than forced. At 8.7 ounces with a 4 mm drop, it sits close enough to the ground to feel balanced and grounded while still giving you the cushioning you want on longer efforts.Altra's EGO™ P35 midsole foam is the engine behind the ride - lighter and more responsive than a traditional max-cushion setup, which means you get the soft landing without the heavy, sluggish feel some high-stack shoes carry. The engineered mesh upper keeps airflow moving so your feet stay comfortable mile after mile, and the updated tongue sits against the top of your foot without creating pressure points. For neutral runners who log consistent mileage and want a shoe that can handle both easy days and longer runs without feeling like a compromise, the FWD Via 2 makes a strong case. Why Our Fit Experts Love This Shoe""I put these on for a longer easy run and noticed right away how the rocker keeps things moving - it doesn't feel like you're sinking into the cushion, it feels like the shoe is working with you. The tongue update is a small thing, but it makes a real difference on runs where you're out for a while."" - Rachel, Road Runner Sports Fit Expert, Carlsbad, CAWho It's Best ForIf you're a neutral runner looking for a max-cushion daily trainer that handles mid- to long-distance road running without feeling heavy or slow, the FWD Via 2 is a strong fit. It works well for runners who want consistent cushioning across easy runs and longer efforts, and who prefer a lower 4 mm drop that keeps the foot in a more natural position. The rocker geometry and responsive EGO™ P35 foam make it a good choice if you've tried other high-cushion shoes and found them too soft or too stiff to run in comfortably.
