Forster Products Belted Magnum Field Headspace Gauge Features The Forster Belted Magnum Field Headspace Gauge is machined to exacting SAAMI specifications giving gunsmiths and shooters a precise repeatable way to verify that a rifle s chamber falls within safe industry-standard tolerances. If a rifle s bolt closes on this No-Go gauge that is an indication the chamber may have excessive headspace a condition that can lead to case ruptures and dangerous gas escaping rearward toward the shooter. This particular gauge is sized for rimmed and belted magnum cartridges including 7.62x54 Russian covering a chambering not always addressed by standard rimless gauge sets. Hardened steel construction ensures the gauge itself does not wear out of tolerance even with repeated use across many chamber checks. This gauge is particularly valuable when chambering a new barrel performing routine maintenance or evaluating a used rifle before purchase since headspace issues are not something a shooter can detect by sight alone. Most gunsmiths aim to chamber a rifle s headspace somewhere between the Go and No-Go dimensions making this gauge an essential check during that process. Forster s reputation for precision gauging tools comes from decades of supplying gunsmiths with instruments that hold their accuracy over years of shop use. For anyone working on rifles chambered in 7.62x54 Russian or similar rimmed and belted cartridges this headspace gauge is a critical safety verification tool.
