Forster Products Grendel Field Length Headspace Gauge Features The Forster Grendel Field Length Headspace Gauge is machined to tight tolerances so gunsmiths can rely on a clear repeatable answer when checking a 6.5 Grendel chamber. Headspace is the distance between the breech face and the base of the cartridge when the action closes and excessive headspace can allow unsupported brass to rupture under fire. Because that failure sends gas rearward toward the shooter verifying chamber dimensions with a dedicated field gauge is a critical safety step rather than an optional one. Most gunsmiths chamber a rifle between the Go and No-Go dimensions which makes the Field gauge the final check against a chamber that has crept too far open. Crafted from hardened steel for long service life this gauge resists wear even with frequent shop use and holds its accuracy over years of handling. Its compact dimensions make it easy to store in a gunsmithing toolkit alongside Go and No-Go gauges for a complete headspace inspection set. The clear pass or fail result it provides takes the guesswork out of assessing a new build a fresh barrel installation or a used rifle being considered for purchase. For gunsmiths and serious 6.5 Grendel shooters who want confidence in their chamber dimensions this Forster field gauge is a straightforward dependable addition to the bench.
