Sierra MatchKing Features The Sierra MatchKing 142 grain 6.5mm bullet is designed around a longer ogive radius than Sierra s 140 grain MatchKing which raises its ballistic coefficient and reduces sensitivity to crosswinds at distance. This makes it a strong choice for competitive highpower and silhouette shooters working with the 6.5mm bore a cartridge class that has seen renewed interest as more manufacturers chamber 6.5x55mm and similar rifles. The hollow point boat tail design supports consistent flight characteristics downrange which is central to the MatchKing name s reputation for record setting accuracy. A minimum barrel twist of 1 in 8 inches or faster is required to stabilize this bullet properly. Although MatchKing bullets are sometimes used for varmint hunting Sierra does not recommend them for most hunting applications since their match oriented design does not deliver the same reliable expansion as Sierra s dedicated hunting bullets at comparable velocities. Each box contains 250 bullets at a true .264 inch diameter giving handloaders a substantial supply for load development and competition use. These are component bullets only meant to be seated into cases by the reloader rather than sold as finished ammunition. For 6.5mm shooters focused on precision and consistency the Sierra MatchKing remains a proven choice.
