Sierra Tipped MatchKing Features The Sierra Tipped MatchKing bullet is an evolution of Sierra s long-running MatchKing profile adding an acetal resin tip to a boat tail jacketed lead design. That tip reduces aerodynamic drag as the bullet travels downrange which flattens trajectory and reduces wind drift compared to an open tip match bullet of similar weight. At 185 grains and .284 inch diameter this projectile is built for 7mm cartridges used in precision and long range competition. The tipped design also improves feeding reliability from a magazine addressing a common complaint with traditional open tip match bullets in semi-automatic or detachable-magazine rifles. The boat tail base further reduces base drag in flight which combines with the tipped nose to help the bullet retain velocity and resist wind deflection well past typical match distances. Each box contains 500 bullets giving high volume reloaders and competitive shooters enough projectiles for extended load development and match practice without frequent reordering. Sierra manufactures these bullets from jacketed lead a construction method the company has refined over decades of match bullet production and the Tipped MatchKing line carries that same manufacturing consistency forward with the added benefit of the polymer tip. Because they are designed purely for accuracy at distance rather than terminal expansion Sierra does not recommend the Tipped MatchKing for most hunting applications. These component bullets require handloading equipment and dies matched to the 7mm caliber and are intended strictly for target and match use rather than as a finished cartridge making them a natural fit for shooters already invested in precision handloading for competition.
