Faxon Firearms Duty Series Big Gunner Barrel Features The Faxon Firearms Duty Series Big Gunner Barrel in .308 Win updates the company s earlier medium-taper profile based on customer feedback optimizing the contour to meet the Gunner line s standards for both competition and duty use. A medium taper sits behind the .750 inch gas block journal which measures 1.9 inches long to accommodate long gas blocks or aftermarket piston kits. Forward of the gas block the barrel steps down to a thinner taper that trims weight while keeping enough rigidity for sustained high rates of fire and for use as a suppressor host. The 1:10 twist rate is matched to standard .308 Winchester bullet weights for reliable stabilization downrange. Machined from 4150 CMV steel and button rifled for consistent accuracy the barrel receives a Salt Bath Nitride treatment both inside the bore and on the exterior improving wear resistance and corrosion protection over the barrel s service life. A mid-length gas system and 5/8x24 TPI muzzle threads give builders flexibility for gas tuning and for adding a muzzle device or suppressor. An 11-degree target crown protects the rifling at the muzzle from dings and helps preserve accuracy over time.
