Faxon Firearms Match Series Features The Faxon Firearms Match Series barrel is manufactured one hundred percent in-house from gun-barrel-quality 416-R stainless bar stock using 5R rifling that places lands opposite grooves with reduced sharp angles. That hybrid rifling geometry reduces jacket deformation on the bullet as it travels down the bore improving velocity consistency while also making the barrel easier to clean. Faxon chambers the Match Series specifically in .223 Wylde a hybrid chamber designed to let the 5R rifling perform at its best through reduced bullet jump into the lands. Every barrel is fully stress relieved air-gauge tested and finished with an 11-degree recessed target crown to maximize accuracy potential right out of the box. This particular barrel measures 18 inches with a heavy fluted profile that balances weight reduction against barrel rigidity paired with a 1 in 8 twist rate suited to a wide range of .223 Wylde bullet weights. A rifle length gas system gives smoother cycling and reduced bolt carrier speed compared to shorter gas systems an advantage for 18 inch barrel builds. The M4 feed ramp barrel extension is coated in Nickel Teflon for dry lubricity and corrosion resistance while tightening up the fit between extension and receiver for improved accuracy. Finished entirely in Salt Bath Nitride both inside and out this barrel locks in bore protection and extends barrel life for AR-15 builders chasing precision performance from a rifle-length gas system.
