Thompson Center Contender Frame Features The Thompson Center Contender Frame is built around a steel receiver paired with a break open action the design that made the Contender series a favorite for shooters who want one frame to serve many calibers. An external hammer with a firing pin selector gives the shooter direct control over ignition while a hammer block safety adds a layer of protection against accidental discharge when the action is closed. The single shot design keeps the mechanism simple and reliable with a trigger pull averaging 6 pounds for a consistent repeatable let off. This frame is sized to accept 10 inch barrels making it the foundation for a dedicated short barrel Contender build. The frame wears a walnut wood stock and forend finished in a blued steel receiver that gives the whole package a traditional classic appearance. Walnut furniture is prized for its durability and its ability to age well with regular use and it provides a comfortable secure grip whether the shooter is at the range or in the field. A cable trigger lock ships with the frame to support safe storage when the pistol is not in use. Because the Contender platform is built around interchangeable 10 inch barrels in a wide range of chamberings this frame lets a shooter build a single action around whatever cartridge the day calls for from target work to small game hunting making it a practical foundation for anyone invested in the G2 Contender system.
