Thompson Center Encore Features The Thompson Center Arms Encore Contender Pistol Frame is built around a steel receiver designed to accept a wide range of interchangeable 12 and 14 barrels letting shooters configure the same frame for different calibers and purposes. The break action single-shot design keeps the mechanism simple and dependable a hallmark of the Contender platform s long track record. A safety block is incorporated into the frame for an added measure of protection during loading and handling. This frame-based approach lets hunters and sport shooters swap barrels rather than owning multiple complete firearms trading one receiver across calibers instead of a safe full of dedicated pistols. Because the barrel and frame separate cleanly storage and transport are simpler too with the action broken down into compact components between range sessions or hunts. The frame s blued steel finish pairs with a walnut wood stock giving the Encore a traditional look that fits both the hunting field and the range. Weighing approximately 3 lbs on its own the frame stays light enough to pair comfortably with a variety of barrel lengths and calibers without becoming unwieldy in the hand. Thompson Center s authorized dealer requirements reflect the brand s commitment to proper setup and support for this interchangeable barrel system ensuring the frame and barrel combinations are fitted and function as intended. The walnut stock and blued steel combination also means the Encore wears well over years of use aging into a classic rather than showing wear the way some synthetic-stocked guns do. For shooters looking to build a flexible multi-caliber break action pistol the Thompson Center Encore Contender Frame offers a proven foundation to start from one that can grow with a shooter s interests across hunting silhouette and specialty pistol calibers.
