Fluting along the 20 inch barrel is designed to create the strongest lightweight barrel possible cutting weight without sacrificing rigidity or accuracy. The matte blued finish protects the steel from the elements while giving the barrel a clean traditional appearance. A 1 in 20 inch twist rate is matched to the .45-70 Gov chambering for reliable stabilization of heavier bullets at hunting ranges. This barrel is threaded 11/16x24 to accept a muzzle brake or other muzzle device helping manage recoil from the .45-70 Gov cartridge. The barrel comes drilled and tapped for scope mounts so no additional gunsmithing is required to add optics once it is installed. Every Pro Hunter barrel is factory test fired at 100 yards to verify accuracy before shipping giving hunters confidence in its performance out of the box. Note that this barrel fits Encore series frames only and will not fit Contender or G2 Contender receivers so Encore owners can add this caliber option to their existing setup with a simple barrel swap.
