Traditions Trapper Features The Traditions Trapper is chambered in 50 Cal and centers on a 9.75 octagon barrel with a 1:20 twist rate a profile that suits the round ball loads typical of flintlock pistol shooting. A hooked breech simplifies disassembly for cleaning which matters more on a black powder gun than on a modern cartridge pistol since fouling builds up quickly after firing. The sidelock flintlock action strikes a classic profile using a flint and frizzen ignition system rather than a modern primer giving shooters an authentic hands-on connection to early firearm design. A double set trigger lets the shooter choose a standard pull or set it for a lighter crisper release adding a measure of precision to an otherwise traditional shooting platform. The barrel wears a blued finish that pairs with the raw hardwood frame for a two-tone look typical of traditional muzzleloading pistols and a blade front sight keeps the sighting picture simple and rugged. Because the Trapper ships as a do it yourself kit the hardwood frame arrives unfinished so the builder can sand stain and finish it to their own preference before final assembly. That kit format makes the Trapper approachable for shooters of any age looking to learn how a flintlock pistol goes together rather than simply buying one assembled. At a 15.5 overall length once built the Traditions Trapper Pistol Kit delivers a compact single-shot black powder pistol project for hobbyists and black powder hunters alike.
