Savage Axis XP w/Optic Features The Savage Arms Axis XP is loaded with features that deliver tack-driving accuracy on every shot starting with a precision button rifled threaded 20 inch carbon steel barrel finished in matte black. Thread-in headspacing keeps the barrel to receiver fit consistent for reliable accuracy shot after shot. A 1 in 10 inch twist rate stabilizes a wide range of .308 Win bullet weights giving hunters flexibility in factory ammunition choice. The receiver is drilled and tapped and the two position safety gives shooters a simple reliable means of controlling the rifle in the field. The enhanced bolt handle features a sleek ergonomic design that improves user control and comfort during operation particularly in adverse conditions like rain or cold weather when grip matters most. A black synthetic stock with a fixed pistol grip design keeps the rifle light and weather resistant at just 7.5 lbs. The compact sizing and 12.75 inch length of pull suit smaller framed shooters or those hunting from a blind where a shorter rifle handles more easily. Feeding from a detachable box magazine the 4+1 capacity gives hunters quick reloads in the field without fumbling with a tube magazine. This rifle ships with a factory mounted and boresighted 3-9x40mm scope with a Duplex reticle saving hunters the time and expense of mounting and sighting their own optic. The trigger breaks between 5 and 8 lbs giving a workable pull for a rifle in this price range. A 5/8x24 thread pattern on the muzzle lets owners add a suppressor or muzzle brake to manage recoil and report. This complete ready to hunt package makes the Axis XP w/Optic Compact a practical choice for hunters who want a rifle and scope combination out of the box.
