Great Lakes Firearms and Ammunition GL-15 Features The Great Lakes Firearms GL-15 is chambered in .223 Wylde a chamber cut that allows the rifle to safely and accurately fire both .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO ammunition without sacrificing accuracy for either cartridge. The 16 heavy barrel carries a 1:8 twist rate suited to a wide range of bullet weights and its 1/2x28 threaded muzzle accepts the included forward-mounted muzzle brake designed to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise. Built from either 416R stainless steel or 4150 Chrome Moly Vanadium with a nitride finish the barrel is matched to M4 feed ramps on the 7075 aluminum upper for reliable feeding. A 0.750 gas block in black oxide and a carbine-length gas tube round out a gas system built for consistent cycling. The GL-15 s 15.25 aluminum handguard runs a full length Picatinny rail giving shooters room to mount optics lights lasers and other accessories exactly where they want them and the upper itself carries the standard flat-top Picatinny rail for mounting a primary optic. A Mil-spec polymer grip and Mil-spec trigger with a 5.5 to 6 lb pull round out the controls while the Tungsten Gray Cerakote finish adds a durable corrosion-resistant coating across the 7075 aluminum frame. At 33.25 overall and 6.8 lbs the rifle balances portability with the heft needed for stable shooting. Built to California compliance standards and shipping with one 10-round magazine the GL-15 gives California shooters a legal path to a capable AR-15 platform.
