Product Description
Barrel Aged Ka’u Maragogipe From the celebrated soils of Ka?u, this single-estate Maragogipe — prized for its exceptionally large bean and rare cultivation — has been aged in both rum and bourbon barrels as part of our limited barrel-aged Hawaiian coffee series. The result is something deeply uncommon: intensely aromatic, yet remarkably composed in the cup. Tasting notes of Surinam cherry and butterscotch open the experience, drifting into spiced rum warmth and charred oak before finishing with bright flashes of lime and orange bitters. Rustic, layered, and unhurried. Our barrel-aged coffees are offered just once or twice a year. Prepare as you ordinarily would — the depth finds you. Please note : Features a pronounced rum aroma and flavor. 2026 Coffee Review Score: 93 Points Blind Assessment: Deep-toned, warmly spirited. Vanilla bean, toasted coconut, dark caramel, baking spice and oak barrel in aroma and cup. Soft, fruity acidity; full, creamy mouthfeel. The finish is warmly sweet, with integrated barrel notes supporting rather than overwhelming the coffee. Notes: This Ka‘u-grown Maragogipe is aged in both rum and bourbon barrels. Big Island Coffee Roasters is an award-winning coffee roaster operated with hands-on passion by Kelleigh Stewart and Brandon von Damitz. The Bottom Line: An inventive barrel-aged coffee that lets the giant-bean Maragogipe retain its identity while adding nuanced notes of rum, bourbon and baking spice to an already abundant cup.
