Speer Gold Dot Features The Speer Gold Dot bullet in 40 caliber uses a .400 diameter 200 grain hollow point design built on Speer s exclusive bonding process which fuses the copper jacket to the lead core one atom at a time. This bonding virtually eliminates core and jacket separation on impact a common failure point in lower quality defensive bullets. The result is consistent penetration and expansion through common intermediate barriers delivering the threat-stopping performance law enforcement professionals have relied on in factory Gold Dot ammunition for years. A uniform jacket thickness contributes to excellent accuracy when the bullet is properly seated and loaded. Reloaders building their own personal defense ammunition gain access to the same bullet technology found in premium factory-loaded Gold Dot rounds with nearly 100 percent weight retention after expansion for maximum energy transfer. The hollow point cavity is engineered to open reliably at a wide range of practical handgun velocities supporting consistent terminal performance across different loads. Packaged 100 bullets per box the Speer Gold Dot gives reloaders enough projectiles to work up a load and then produce it in volume. For shooters who demand proven defensive bullet performance in their handloaded ammunition Speer Gold Dot bullets deliver trusted results.
