Proof Research Sendero Barrel Features The Proof Research Sendero Barrel is built from carbon fiber a construction method that sheds significant weight compared to a traditional steel barrel without sacrificing rigidity or accuracy potential. Cut to 22 inches with a Sendero contour the barrel carries a 1:9 twist rate well suited to stabilizing the heavier bullet weights common in .300 PRC loadings. Five-groove rifling is machined into the bore for consistent bullet engagement and accuracy. The barrel is threaded 5/8-24 at the muzzle giving the shooter the option to add a muzzle brake or suppressor. Shedding weight at the muzzle end of a rifle has an outsized effect on handling so trimming ounces here makes a long-barreled .300 PRC rifle noticeably easier to carry and maneuver in the field. Designed as a pre-fit barrel for the Defiance Ruckus action this barrel is intended to drop directly into a bolt-action build without requiring extensive custom chambering work. This pre-fit design is a meaningful time and cost savings for a builder assembling a custom precision rifle since the chamber and tenon are already matched to the Ruckus action s specifications. Pairing a carbon fiber barrel with a Defiance Ruckus action is a popular combination among long-range and precision rifle shooters looking to minimize weight on a mountain or PRS style rifle. The carbon wrap also dissipates heat differently than bare steel which can help maintain a more consistent point of impact across a long string of fire on the range. For shooters building a .300 PRC precision rifle this Proof Research Sendero barrel is a proven purpose-built upgrade that pairs modern materials with a cartridge built for reaching out to extended distances.
