Hornady CX Features The Hornady CX bullet in .25 Cal / .257 inch replaces a traditional lead core with a one-piece monolithic copper alloy body eliminating core-jacket separation and delivering reliably deep penetration on medium to large game. This construction retains approximately 95 percent of its original weight after impact translating into consistent terminal performance shot after shot. The Heat Shield tip is molded from a heat-resistant polymer that resists aerodynamic heating during flight preserving a high ballistic coefficient from muzzle to target. That same tip design also produces a perfectly uniform meplat on every bullet improving bullet-to-bullet and lot-to-lot consistency for handloaders chasing tight groups. Optimum groove geometry cut into the bearing surface reduces fouling and friction as the bullet travels down the bore helping maintain velocity and accuracy across a hunting season of reloading. Because the CX uses no lead core it meets requirements for nontraditional ammunition in California and other regions that restrict lead-based projectiles. At 112 grains with a .257 inch diameter this bullet suits .25 caliber cartridges built for medium to large game hunting applications. Packaged 50 to a box the Hornady CX gives serious handloaders a proven lead-free option for extended-range hunting performance.
