Hornady DGH Features The Hornady DGH bullet is a jacketed heavy-for-caliber projectile purpose built for the worst-case encounters that dangerous game hunters and backcountry travelers prepare for. At 138 grains and a .355 inch diameter this 9mm bullet carries extra mass compared to standard defensive loads translating directly into deeper penetration through tough barriers and heavy muscle and bone. A protected point design locks the bullet s nose to its core which keeps the projectile from deflecting off angled or heavy cover and maintains a straight penetration path. That construction is critical when a follow-up shot may not be possible and penetration matters more than expansion. Unlike hard cast lead options the fully jacketed DGH produces no smoke on firing keeping the sight picture clear for faster more accurate follow-up shots when they count. This is a meaningful advantage in close encounters with dangerous game where a second accurate shot can matter as much as the first. The DGH bullet gives reloaders a way to build maximized-energy loads for their favorite backcountry sidearm using a heavy caliber option.
