Winchester SXR2 Features The Winchester SXR2 is built using a time-proven gas piston operating system that self-adjusts for superior reliability and reduces felt recoil an important advantage when running a hard-hitting caliber like .308 Win. This design incorporates a buffer that reduces wear on internal components over long-term use. The gas system drives a strong seven-lug rotary bolt that locks securely to the barrel delivering the accuracy and strength needed to handle demanding hunting loads. Cartridges feed from an easy to load detachable box magazine speeding up reloads in the field when a follow-up shot matters. The aircraft-grade aluminum alloy receiver is lightweight yet strong and it comes drilled and tapped for scope mounts so hunters can add optics without extra gunsmithing. Open sights come standard with an adjustable fiber-optic front sight paired with a fixed rear sight for fast target acquisition when an optic is not mounted. The composite stock features a close-radius grip for optimal finger-to-trigger reach along with a slight ambidextrous palm swell and line-style texturing enhances grip in wet or cold conditions. A comfortable Inflex II recoil pad reduces felt recoil at the shoulder and large easy-to-operate controls including the safety bolt release and bolt handle round out a rifle built for fast confident handling.
