Forster Products Field Headspace Gage Features The Forster Field Headspace Gage for 6.5 PRC is machined to exacting standards so that a rifle s actual chamber condition can be verified with confidence rather than guesswork. Most gunsmiths chamber a rifle s headspace somewhere between the GO and NOGO dimensions and the Field gage represents the outer limit of what is considered safe. If the action closes fully on this gage it signals that the chamber has grown dangerously close to or beyond SAAMI maximum specifications a critical warning sign for any shooter running factory or reloaded 6.5 PRC ammunition. Unsupported brass fired in an action with excessive headspace can rupture and vent gas rearward which is the exact failure this gage is designed to help a shooter catch before it happens. Forster builds every headspace gage with the same painstaking care that goes into its reloading dies ensuring the tool itself is a dependable reference rather than another variable in the equation. Because the stakes involve the shooter s safety using a Field gage to periodically check a well used 6.5 PRC rifle is good practice for anyone who shoots the chambering regularly. This tool pairs naturally with GO and NOGO gages for a complete headspace inspection routine. For reloaders and gunsmiths working with 6.5 PRC rifles the Forster Field Headspace Gage is a straightforward way to confirm a chamber remains within safe operating limits.
