Federal Subsonic Features The Federal Subsonic load in .338 ARC is purpose built for suppressed shooting with engineers tuning the muzzle velocity to roughly 1 000 fps so the bullet never breaks the sound barrier. Staying just below the speed of sound eliminates the sharp supersonic crack that standard velocity ammunition produces a crack that no suppressor alone can silence. The 325 grain hollow point bullet is heavy for caliber helping it retain stable flight and deliver meaningful terminal performance even at reduced velocities. Federal built this load around trusted bullet platforms modified specifically for the demands of subsonic shooting. Each 20 round box gives shooters a dedicated subsonic option for use with their .338 ARC suppressor-equipped rifles whether at the range or in the field. The heavier bullet weight in this caliber helps compensate for the lower velocity maintaining usable energy and expansion characteristics downrange. For shooters who have invested in a suppressor this load represents the other half of the quiet-shooting equation since standard supersonic ammunition will always crack regardless of suppressor quality. Federal Subsonic .338 ARC gives dedicated suppressor shooters a true whisper-quiet option backed by Federal s bullet engineering experience.
