Berger Bullets Classic Hunter Features The Berger Classic Hunter .308 Winchester load is built around a 185 grain hybrid boat tail bullet designed to maximize ballistic coefficient without sacrificing the shorter overall length needed to cycle through a magazine fed hunting rifle. That hybrid profile gives hunters a better ballistic coefficient and more retained energy downrange than the lighter 168 grain option with only a small velocity trade off. Loaded to SAAMI specifications it is built for trouble free operation in factory hunting rifles rather than requiring a custom chamber. A 1:12 inch twist rate or faster is recommended to stabilize the bullet properly at these weights. Each round leaves the barrel at roughly 2532 fps delivering 2634 ft lbs of muzzle energy for solid terminal performance on big game. Berger assembles this ammunition with temperature stable powders meaning the same reliable results whether hunting in freezing winter conditions or the heat of an early season hunt. Brass cases boxer primers and reloadable components round out a load built to the same exacting tolerances Berger applies to its match bullets. For hunters chasing precision and knockdown power from a .30 caliber bolt rifle this Classic Hunter load is a dependable choice.
