Barrett MRAD SMR Features The Barrett SMR MRAD short for Single Mission Rifle delivers the same core performance as the standard MRAD while being set from the factory in a single caliber rather than offering interchangeable barrels. Its defining feature is a free floated barrel held in the upper receiver with a standard barrel nut a change that helps the rifle achieve .75 MOA accuracy in .338 Norma Magnum. The 26 fluted barrel carries a 1:9.4 twist rate and a black Nitride finish over an aluminum receiver for corrosion resistance and reduced weight. Sharing roughly 90 percent parts commonality with the standard MRAD keeps maintenance and armorer familiarity straightforward across the product line. Unlike the folding stock of the standard MRAD the SMR MRAD uses a non-folding fixed stock with a vertically adjustable cheek piece and separate spacers for length of pull adjustment. These changes shave nearly 2.5 lbs off the weight and an inch off the overall length compared to the standard configuration resulting in a rifle that measures 48.5 and weighs 12.3 lbs. A right-handed action and a 10-round magazine capacity round out a package built for precision shooters who want a slimmer purpose-built rifle without sacrificing the MRAD s proven bolt action performance. The Barrett SMR MRAD in .338 Norma Magnum is available for sale at GrabAGun for hunters and long range competitors seeking a lighter single-caliber precision rifle.
