Savage Axis 2 Compact Features The Savage Axis 2 Compact is built around a redesigned action that delivers real accuracy gains over the original Axis platform starting with a button-rifled free-floating 20 barrel and a 1-in-9 twist rate matched to popular .223 Rem loads. The user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets shooters dial in a crisp lighter pull without a trip to the gunsmith and thread-in headspacing tightens tolerances for more consistent ignition and case life. A detachable 4-round box magazine feeds reliably and drops free for quick reloads in the field. The 2-position top tang safety keeps operation simple and intuitive for hunters of all experience levels. Built on a compact FDE synthetic stock the Axis 2 Compact is scaled for smaller shooters without sacrificing the durability of the platform and the new bolt handle s sleeker ergonomic profile makes cycling faster and more comfortable in gloved or cold-weather conditions. The steel receiver is drilled and tapped and fitted with a Weaver-style base for mounting the optic of your choice and integral swivel studs accept a sling out of the box for all-day carry. A synthetic stock resists moisture and warping better than wood keeping zero stable across changing weather. This left-hand compact rifle gives younger or smaller-statured hunters a genuine full-power .223 Rem option built to fit them.
