"Men's Topo Athletic® Ultraventure 5: The Topo Athletic Ultraventure 5 is a neutral trail running shoe built for runners who want real protection and a comfortable ride on technical terrain. With a 5 mm drop, 25 mm of stack height at the heel, and a wide toe box that lets your toes splay naturally, it gives you a grounded, stable feel without cramping your foot - which adds up on longer efforts over rocks, roots, and uneven ground. The Vibram® XS Trek EVO outsole grips reliably on wet and dry surfaces, from packed dirt to loose rock, so you can stay focused on the trail rather than your footing. The engineered mesh upper wraps the foot securely while keeping airflow moving through the shoe - useful when the miles start to add up and heat becomes a factor. A reinforced toe cap adds durability where trail terrain hits hardest, and the padded collar and tongue reduce friction around the ankle, which matters most on longer runs where small pressure points tend to become bigger problems. At 10.7 ounces, it carries enough structure to handle rough terrain without feeling heavy underfoot. Why Our Fit Experts Love This Shoe""I took the Ultraventure 5 out on a rocky trail with some technical sections and was really impressed by how much grip the Vibram outsole gave me on wet rock. The wide toe box made a noticeable difference on the longer climbs - my feet had room to move without sliding around in the shoe. It's a trail shoe I'd reach for on any run where the terrain gets serious."" - Dave, Road Runner Sports Fit Expert, San Diego, CAWho It's Best ForIf you're a neutral runner who spends time on trails and wants a shoe that can handle technical terrain without sacrificing comfort on longer efforts, the Ultraventure 5 is worth a close look.
