What Our Gearhead(R) Experts Are Saying:"I have been stuffing the Columbia Khyex Pro Wind Jacket into the top of my pack on alpine starts all season and it has bailed me out more than once when the ridge got exposed and the wind picked up fast. At under four ounces it weighs essentially nothing, and the peripheral vision hood adjustment meant I could keep eyes on the route without fighting the fit."The best wind layer is the one you actually bring, and at just under four ounces the Columbia Khyex Pro Wind Jacket makes that an easy commitment. Part of Columbia's Titanium collection, which is reserved for high-performance gear built with the best fit, features, and technology in the lineup, this ultralight shell compresses small enough to live in a hip belt pocket and deploys fast when an exposed ridge or an unexpected gust demands it. Omni-Shield repels light moisture and resists stains to cover the conditions that fall short of full rain, while broad-spectrum UPF 50 protection handles the sun exposure that comes with high and open terrain. The attached hood features a bonded visor and adjusts for peripheral vision so sightlines stay clear when the hood is fully up and the weather is pressing in. A drawcord hem and partial elastic cuffs seal out drafts at the edges, a droptail hem closes the gap at the back, and reflective details carry visibility into low-light alpine starts. This is a Titanium-grade layer that earns its weight class on every outing.
