Caldwell Swinging AR500 Steel Target Features The Caldwell Swinging AR500 Steel Target uses 3/8 inch rifle-rated AR500 steel for the plate itself a hardness level chosen specifically to resist cratering and deformation from repeated rifle and handgun impacts. Cast urethane frame connectors join the solid steel legs and crossbar into a rigid frame that still lets bullet fragments and energy pass through without damaging the structural components. This design balances durability with longevity since the frame is not weakened by the same impacts that would damage a less thoughtfully engineered stand. The solid steel legs can be replaced with 1/2 inch rebar if they are ever damaged extending the usable life of the target well beyond typical range gear. Standing 18 inches off the ground with the target centered at 10 inches the swinging design gives shooters immediate visual and physical feedback on hits a key training benefit over paper targets. Finished in Black and Yellow for high visibility the 5 by 5 inch square plate is rated to handle impacts up to 3 000 fps and 3 500 ft-lb of energy covering the vast majority of centerfire rifle and handgun loads. Four included ground stakes anchor the frame securely keeping it from shifting or tipping during a session of rapid engagement. Highly portable and simple to set up this swinging target is well suited for home ranges training classes and casual plinking sessions alike.
