Taylors and Co 1873 Carbine Features The Taylors and Co 1873 Carbine is a lightweight variation of the iconic 1873 lever action rifle built around a short 19 inch round barrel that reduces overall heft and improves maneuverability. This shorter barrel configuration makes the carbine well suited to fast handling whether the shooter is hunting competing in cowboy action matches or simply enjoying time at the range. A barrel band and flat butt plate shape are characteristic features of the carbine variant distinguishing it from the rifle length 1873 models. Because it is the lightest 1873 variation available it is a strong option for younger or smaller statured shooters learning the lever action platform giving them a gun that is easier to carry shoulder and cycle through a full string of fire. A fixed rear ladder sight provides a simple adjustable sighting system true to the original 1873 design giving shooters a traditional aiming experience without relying on modern optics. The blued frame offers corrosion resistance and a classic appearance that pairs naturally with the rifle s walnut stock keeping the carbine looking and feeling like the original design it is based on. With a 10-round capacity in .357 Mag the carbine offers a manageable versatile cartridge option for both range use and field applications letting shooters run inexpensive practice loads or step up to full power .357 Mag for hunting. The barrel band at the front of the round barrel reinforces the forend and ties the carbine s profile together reflecting the same proven 1873 lever action layout that has made the platform a lasting favorite among traditional shooters.
