Cimarron Firearms 1885 High Wall Features The Cimarron 1885 High Wall operates on a falling block single shot action chambered in .45-70 Government a cartridge prized for its heavy bullet weights and proven stopping power on big game and at long range target distances. A 30 inch octagon barrel adds both visual character and additional weight forward helping steady the rifle during the heavy recoil impulse of full-power .45-70 loads. The 1:18 twist rate is matched to stabilize the long heavy bullets typically loaded in this cartridge supporting consistent accuracy at distance. This combination of action type and barrel geometry reflects the original 1885 High Wall design that made falling block rifles a favorite among serious shooters of the era. A case hardened receiver provides the swirling color pattern collectors and traditionalists associate with classic single shot rifles while a standard blue finish on the barrel offers corrosion resistance and a clean period-correct contrast against the receiver. The walnut stock completes the traditional aesthetic offering a durable attractive platform that holds up to decades of use with proper care. At an overall length of 46.5 inches and a weight of 9.25 pounds the rifle carries enough mass to help manage recoil while remaining a manageable size for range use or hunting. The Cimarron 1885 High Wall delivers a faithful well-built single shot rifle for shooters drawn to classic American firearms design.
