Spyderco Gooney Features The Spyderco Gooney features a 3.44 inch blade made from 9Cr18MoV steel a Chinese stainless steel known for good edge retention and corrosion resistance at an accessible price point. Its unusual blade geometry blends elements of the sheepsfoot hawkbill and Spyderco s own Reverse S pattern creating a profile capable of both push cuts and pull cuts in a single tool. A SpyderEdge serrated section adds aggressive cutting capability for rope webbing or other fibrous materials that a plain edge struggles with. The satin finished silver blade gives the knife a classic clean appearance that resists showing fingerprints and light surface wear. A reliable back lock mechanism holds the blade securely open during use and releases cleanly with a press of the lock bar for closing. The handle is built from gray G-10 a glass-reinforced epoxy laminate known for being lightweight yet highly durable and resistant to moisture. At 7.71 inches overall when open the Gooney is sized for comfortable everyday carry while still offering a full-size gripping surface. Designed by Spyderco co-founder and Blade Magazine Hall of Fame member Sal Glesser this knife reflects decades of blade design expertise packed into a genuinely different folding knife shape.
