Hornady Lock-N-Load Modified A Case Features The Hornady Lock-N-Load Modified A Case is machined from brass and threaded at the case head with a special fine thread that attaches securely to the Lock-N-Load Overall Length Gauge. This threading keeps the modified case square during use which is essential for obtaining a consistent repeatable measurement of bullet to lands relationship inside a .22 ARC chamber. At 5.4 inches in length the case is built specifically for this cartridge rather than offered as a universal fit ensuring a precise match to factory chamber dimensions. Reloaders who want to fine tune seating depth for best accuracy rely on tools like this to take the guesswork out of the process. Unlike generic length gauges that rely on a simulated bullet shape of arbitrary dimensions the Hornady system uses a modified case with a neck cut .002 inch oversized to accept the actual bullet the handloader plans to load. That real world fit is what allows the Lock-N-Load gauge to deliver measurements accurate to .001 inch a level of precision that directly affects how consistently a load groups downrange. Hornady has built reloading tools and components for over sixty years and the Lock-N-Load Modified Case line reflects that same attention to practical precise handloading equipment. Paired with the gauge itself this .22 ARC modified case is an essential tool for any reloader chasing the most accurate seating depth for this cartridge.
