Caldwell AR500 Steel Target Features The Caldwell AR500 Steel Target is laser cut into a prairie dog silhouette from certified AR500 steel a hardness rating chosen specifically because it stands up to tens of thousands of rounds from rimfire and non magnum handgun calibers without cratering or failing. The .25 thickness is intentionally lighter than thicker centerfire rated plates which lets the target swing and move more freely on impact and produces a resounding ring even from lower energy rimfire and handgun rounds. This livelier reaction gives shooters clear immediate audible and visual confirmation of a hit which is especially valuable when shooting at distance where a miss can be hard to call. A 1/2 bolt mounting option makes the target compatible with Caldwell s full line of target hangers. Finished in a high visibility Yellow powder coat the target stands out clearly against green brown or snowy backgrounds helping shooters spot hits and track the target s position after each shot. The powder coat finish also protects the steel from rust and weathering extending the target s service life through repeated outdoor use in all conditions. Designed to hang from T-post hangers chains or straps the target resets automatically after every impact keeping a shooting session moving without needing to walk downrange. Backed by Caldwell s lifetime guarantee this prairie dog target is built for shooters who want a durable engaging target for rimfire and handgun practice.
