This Arisaka Type 38 Sporter is a classic Japanese military rifle that has been converted into a more compact sporting configuration. Chambered in 6.5x50mm Arisaka with a 22.5-inch barrel, it retains the rugged Type 38 bolt-action design while offering much handier proportions than the original long military rifle. An interesting piece for the military-surplus enthusiast or collector who appreciates the postwar tradition of turning service rifles into sporting arms.
