"What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:""I took the Downpour Mountain Jacket on a multi-day ridge traverse where the weather changed fast and often and it handled every transition without complaint. The Pertex® Shield fabric is noticeably more robust than other jackets in this weight category, the hood adjustability is genuinely impressive for a jacket this light, and the A-line pockets stayed fully accessible under my pack hipbelt and harness the entire time.""The ridgeline is exposed, the clouds are building, and the trail ahead has another two hours of technical terrain before the descent. The Rab Downpour Mountain Jacket is the layer that goes on without a second thought in that moment, a lightweight and packable waterproof with a mountain-ready feature set that punches well above its weight when conditions get serious. Rab built this jacket around 2. 5-layer Pertex® Shield, a 40D ripstop construction with a 20,000mm hydrostatic head and 20,000g/m² breathability that balances protection and weight with the kind of precision that demanding mountain terrain requires. Fully articulated sleeves move with the body through scrambles and steep sections without pulling or restricting, and extended adjustable cuffs seal against gloves cleanly for a seamless interface at the wrist. The hood features a robust peak and high adjustability to handle mountain weather on fully exposed terrain, a YKK® AquaGuard® center front zip with chin guard keeps the closure comfortable and sealed, and underarm vents open up when the output climbs on long ascents. Dual-sided rear hem adjustment with single-handed operation keeps the fit dialed on the move, and two A-line pockets remain accessible under a harness or pack hipbelt so essentials stay within reach regardless of what the approach demands."
