Scorpion Ammo Subsonic Features Scorpion Subsonic .300 AAC Blackout ammunition is built around a heavy 220 grain full metal jacket bullet a weight chosen specifically to keep the round s velocity below the speed of sound. That true subsonic velocity eliminates the supersonic crack heard with faster .300 AAC Blackout loads which matters most when shooting through a suppressor since the crack of a supersonic round can undercut much of the sound reduction a suppressor otherwise provides. This load is engineered to be suppressor-optimized meaning it is tuned specifically to maximize the noise reduction benefit when fired through a suppressed host rather than simply loaded to a slower velocity as an afterthought. The 220 grain bullet weight also provides superior energy retention downrange compared to lighter subsonic options. Beyond its acoustic advantages the heavier 220 grain bullet is engineered for reliable terminal performance delivering consistent expansion and penetration characteristics suited to the .300 AAC Blackout cartridge s intended uses. Scorpion engineers this load for smooth cycling and reliable feeding specifically in AR-15 platforms and other semi-automatic .300 AAC Blackout rifles addressing a common challenge with subsonic ammunition in gas-operated firearms. The subsonic velocity also produces noticeably reduced recoil allowing for a softer shooting experience and faster follow-up shots compared to supersonic loads. Produced in small batches in Tempe Arizona this 20-round box of Scorpion Subsonic ammunition reflects a commitment to American-made quality control available for sale at GrabAGun.
