Running a computer from the helm is possible when a chartplotter doubles as its touchscreen, and the Garmin USB Cable for GPSMAP 8400 and 8600 Series makes that connection. The 15 ft cable links a GPSMAP 8400 or 8600 series chartplotter to an Apple or Windows 7, 8, or 10 computer. Paired with a compatible HDMI cable, which is sold separately, it lets you tap the chartplotter screen to control the computer, including an on-screen keyboard you can see and touch. The connection is water resistant and secure, so it holds up in a marine setting.
