Savage designed the A17 Target Thumbhole Semi-Auto Rimfire Rifle with a unique delayed blowback action specifically to cycle the .17 HMR cartridge. A special lug locks the bolt in place for a millisecond, allowing most of the gases from burning powder to dissipate before the bolt starts its rearward motion. A steel receiver and a hard chromed bolt further enhance cycling reliability. The Target Thumbhole model comes with a gray laminate, thumbhole stock that is impervious to harsh weather, while offering a solid platform and optimum design for accurate shooting. The heavy fluted barrel features button rifling to provide maximum accuracy needed for hitting small targets at long range. Savage uses their Accutrigger on A17 rimfire rifle that allows the user to adjust the weight of pull according to individual preference. The detachable rotary magazine holds 10 rounds. The Savage A17 Semi-Auto Rifle takes rimfire shooting to the next level by allowing shooters to use the .17 HMR cartridge in a semi-auto.
