The adjustable cheek piece lets you get a solid cheek weld behind a large optic, and the carbon barrel keeps weight manageable while shedding heat during strings of fire. Starting weight is about 7 lbs.PROOF Carbon Fiber Barrel TechnologyPROOF Research builds its carbon fiber barrels around a match-grade stainless steel core wrapped in aerospace-grade carbon fiber and a proprietary resin. The result is a barrel up to 64% lighter than a steel barrel of similar contour, which keeps a hunting rifle easy to carry without giving up the stiffness that long-range accuracy needs.Carbon fiber also moves heat away from the bore faster than steel. That helps the barrel cool between shots and keeps point of impact more consistent through a string of fire, whether you are confirming zero at the bench or taking a follow-up shot in the field.Shooting the 7mm PRC7mm PRC is a strong match for a rifle like this. The 22 barrel length gives a good balance of velocity and handling, and the 1:8 PXT twist is set by PROOF to stabilize the bullets most commonly loaded for this cartridge. Check that the ammunition you plan to use is labeled 7mm PRC before loading the rifle.PROOF Research builds its rifles in Columbia Falls, Montana. Accuracy is backed by PROOF's published accuracy guarantee for this model; see the documentation that ships with the rifle for the exact terms.Who This Rifle Is ForThe Tundra suits hunters who cover a lot of ground and still want to make a clean shot at distance. Hunters who spend long days on foot value a rifle that is light on the pack and steady from a rest, and that is the balance PROOF built into this platform. Choose your cartridge to suit the game you hunt and the distances you expect to shoot. It also works well as a do-everything precision rifle for range days and practical field matches. Pair it with a quality scope, a rear bag and well-made 7mm PRC ammunition, and spend time at the range learning your holds before the season opens.Because the barrel stays consistent as it warms, you can practice with realistic strings of fire instead of waiting long minutes between groups, which makes your range time more productive.Safety and Legal NotesTreat every firearm as loaded, keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire. Read the owner's manual that ships with the rifle before first use.Hunting rules for cartridge, magazine capacity and season dates vary by state. Check your local regulations before you head out, and make sure your transfer dealer can accept the shipment.Setup and OwnershipThe rifle ships with a single-piece scope rail, so you can mount rings and an optic of your choice. Take time to set eye relief and level the reticle, then confirm zero before your hunt. A good bipod or rear bag will help you get the most out of the barrel's accuracy.Keep the carbon barrel clean and dry like any precision barrel. Use a quality one-piece cleaning rod and a bore guide, and avoid harsh solvents on the exterior finish. Store the rifle in a dry case and check action screw torque periodically.Buying From UsThis is a firearm, so it ships to a licensed FFL dealer for transfer after a background check.
