The LMT Defense L129A1 Reference Rifle (LM308SSR) in 7.62x51mm NATO is a battle-proven, precision-oriented semi-automatic rifle originally developed for the British Ministry of Defence as the designated marksman rifle for infantry squads. This exact-spec reference model features LMT's renowned monolithic rail platform (MRP) upper receiver with a 16-inch chrome-lined, cold hammer-forged barrel, fully ambidextrous MARS-L lower receiver, adjustable SOPMOD stock, and a two-stage trigger for crisp, consistent performance under demanding conditions. Engineered for superior accuracy and reliability, the L129A1 delivers sub-MOA potential with match-grade components, quick-change barrel capability, and robust construction that withstands harsh operational environments while maintaining zero through extreme abuse. Built on LMT's proprietary monolithic upper, the rifle integrates a continuous 1913 Picatinny rail for secure mounting of optics, night vision, or thermal devices without flex or shift. The ambidextrous controls-including magazine release, bolt catch, and safety selector-provide seamless operation for left- or right-handed shooters, while the enhanced flared magwell supports rapid reloads in high-stress scenarios. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, it excels at extended-range engagements, offering greater penetration and terminal performance than 5.56 platforms, making it ideal for designated marksman roles, precision shooting, or tactical applications requiring one-shot stops. This LMT Defense reference rifle combines military-grade durability with civilian-accessible excellence, weighing approximately 10.5 pounds unloaded for manageable handling despite its full-power caliber. It ships with LMT's signature attention to detail, including a chrome-lined bore for longevity and corrosion resistance, and compatibility with standard AR-10/SR-25 pattern magazines. Whether for professional use, long-range competition, or building a legacy collection piece, the L129A1 stands as one of the most respected 7.62 semi-autos ever fielded.
